Yes what a waste, to think that a RHD Ami Super shell was binned was nothing short of criminal and it doesn't even look that rusty either. This car along with the Super service were 2CVGB legends in the early 1990's I understand the shell was pretty far gone and rusty, and its chassis and drivetrain did get turned into something pretty special, Matt http://snail.s4.bizhat.com/snail-ftopic45.html

That's a sweet van. It's pretty hard to tell from a photo how bad the shell was. If I were in the situation of owning a rusty body but with a decent chassis I wanted to reuse, I'd offer the body to fellow 2cvers before scrapping it - who knows, maybe nobody wanted it? Re the M35... There's a thread somewhere. Can somebody clarify the difference between an Ami 6 and an Ami 8? I understand the supers had the GS engine?

The basic 6 and 8 (especially the estate) shells are similar, but with quite a few differences - the most visible is around the base of the windscreen. The doors are different, all the front end panels are different, the rear end of the estate is slightly different, the rear end of the saloon is very different. The Super is an 8 with a few minor changes around the bulkhead and front panel, and a completely different chassis.

 Re: Ami 8 love
Ami 6 saloon (or 'Berline') Ami 6 estate (or 'Break') Ami 8 saloon Ami 8 estate ------------------ from the front... Ami 6 Ami 8 ------------------ Ami Supers are effectively the same as an Ami8, available in saloon, estate or van, but with a different chassis and engine. from the outside there are only very sutble differences in bits of trim here and there, and the front panel which has some more holes in it. ------------------- M35 isn't really an Ami at all, as it shares probably less parts with a normal Ami8 than an Ami8 does with a 2cv...

 Re: Ami 8 love
I had a feeling something like that was afoot. He'd tried to sell it for a while but no-one felt brave enough to drive a car with no bonnet and so far removed from it's V5/carte gris description, putting it back under an Ami seemed like the best answer. Hopefully speed-o-grave will reappear on a 602 chassis with a van I.D. sometime. Funny how it surfaced just after it had been discussed. It was only yesterday I checked to see whether there had been a conclusion to it's old for sale thread.

 Re: Ami 8 love
I remember seeing one of the Ami's for sale (prob the pink & yellow super). Amongst the list of notable features, it promised to have "only ever been shagged in twice". Nearly bought it!
