 Re: French National 2010
Yup, LD Lines - Pompey to Le Havre is the crossing we did on our honeymoon, and seems ideal for a place near Le Mans. Cheap too.

Is anyone else thinking of going that way? Aiden, it'll be my birthday too, but on the 12th. Big, fun week!!! What fancy dress ideas could we have? Can I suggest a tin foil party night, costumes can change throughout the night, its lots of fun! I want to go now!!! Yay! My birthday too on the 12th! It'll be our first FN, and we're really looking forward to it...can't wait... Bx

 Re: French National 2010
Being the sad git that I am, just been looking at ferry prices and mileages/petrol costs for each route.
Dover => Dunkirk means travelling (from my house) 842 miles there and back, which I reckoned would cost roughly £93 in petrol. Plus £36 for the ferry crossing, leaving on the wednesday before the meeting and coming back the following tuesday. All that adds up to £129
Plymouth => Roscoff meant a distance of 870 miles which at 45 mpg and £1.10/l of petrol, worked out at £95.73. The ferry (same dates) would be £238, so that's a total of £333.73
Portsmouth => Le Havre: it's a mileage of 398. I had to get a ferry quote for a wednesday and tuesday in March, because their sailing times don't go any further yet. The ferry was £165 which altogether makes £208.75
Between Dunkirk and Le Havre for me I think. The skinflint in me says Dunkirk though!

For me, Dover calais is 460 miles return. It doesnt make much difference which way I go.

 Re: French National 2010
My parentals told me that last year they were going to do the LD lines ferry, but decided that the Dover Bolougne (cant remember how to spell that) was cheaper, theeennnn, LD put the prices down to just under £100 at the last min. It could be a plan to wait them out maybe??
So, any thoughts on a tin foil party??
