The headlight adjustment system has me baffled, cable links, lamp unit seems to sit in little plastic clips (degraded) and a plastic inner moulding that has captive nuts in it which I left well alone for now. I disconnected said cables from inside the cab. The seller seems to have had the car for a long time in dry storage, the previous owner he bought it off used the car in France. Engine is very, very oily on the lower part, had it tipped on it's nose whilst sorting the mounting plate and oil was p*ssing out of the front crank seal.  P1020554  by Robndaisy , on Flickr Uh oh, seen this before on that Ebay engine from Hell    .Hoping it's 'auto de-coked and nothing worse 'cos it will not turn over at all. first impressions: the Dyane seems sturdier than the 2cv, doors fit better, cab feels roomier and the windscreen is larger which saves me having to slouch to see out of it    . The plan is to get the engine to run and drive it back through the garden and into the faithful 'slum' tent for Autumn/Winter works.

You'll find it much easier in future to remove the front outer and inner wings, including the A panels, in one lump. . Remove the front doors and you'll find 3 self-tapping screws with small rectangular washers, which attach the A panel to the A post._________________

   |   Re: Yellow DyaneCheers Ken, I was looking at the doors to see how easy it was to remove them, but Pete had already undone most of the speedscrews etc.! he was dead keen to help me get started on it    . This morning I started to remove the cylinder heads to see what was going on inside the flamer.  P1020560  by Robndaisy , on Flickr This is the right hand side, the lefthand was free as a bird. Still nothing, I decided that in the engine stand there was too much 'spring' when hitting it so,  P1020565  by Robndaisy , on Flickr I removed the studs and sat the crankcase directly on top of a handy piece of bronze bearing stock (just the right size) that I pinched from my Dad's years ago when he wasn't looking    .  P1020566  by Robndaisy , on Flickr Using a piece of aluminium and later on a lump of copper round bar(50mm.) I drove the piston from the barrel feeling sick as I walloped it, not a nice feeling. So it's two new barrels and pistons so far...The crankcase is now marinating in red diesel so I can wreck the oil cooler unions probably

   |   Re: Yellow DyaneMy cars are never secondhand, mostly sixth or more     Rob you loosened to many screws on the Dyane. There is a trick but you have to be with two persons. After disconnecting several bits you can take the complete nose off. Here you can see Geo and me doing a transplant on a acadyane.
