My old CX GTi had _two_ RP numbers stamped on it, about two weeks apart in Jan '89. Two colour codes, too, but at least they agreed...

Mine seems to have had the bulkhead waxoiled so no way of finding out her birthday

My '63 Ami 6 has a datum stamp at the back side of the Speedo-casing.....

22 february 1963....... would it be build that day or would it only be the making of the speedo?????

Wow, Blair's whole site seems to be behind a password - that's a real surprise. It was one of the very first Citroen sites on the internet, and for years hosted the first 2cv email list, predecessor to all of the many current forums. If Blair's moved on and closed it down, that's a real slice of Citroen web history lost.

Update - Yep, I've had it confirmed that Blair's decided there's enough Citroen info sites, and doesn't think he can "compete" with them, so he's decided to let it lapse. What a shame.

I've have just acquired an engine and gearbox from a Diane. In the box of bits that came with it, was a chassis plate! I'm guessing this is the vehicle the engine came out of.

Can I trace the year of manufacture from this?

Looks like 1980 started at 67CB2001 (CD for Dy6 is going to be a typo).

Have a look at the engine number. If the fourth digit is 0, it's a 1980 engine.

engine No. is AM2 005119.

It looks like someone has tried to stamp Exchange Engine on the plate!

Not a surprise - that's a very short engine number, several digits missing compared to normal.
