It's a lovely, gnarly old car. Duck tape on the bonnet hinge, duck tape under the windscreen. Rear wings held on by its internal bolts only. Rust and patina wherever you look. It's been in Kiddie for years, and is still used as a daily runner.

I hate shiny Charlestons and Dollys and all the wanky editions Citroen did. Looking like that is the only time they ever look appropriate. I ruined my D*lly by polishing the wings, I can't wait until it's gone matt again and looks like a workaday tool and not some daft childs toy with a more ridiculous name.

The scruffier they are the better they are in my opinion. Mechanically sound but cosmetically scruffy is my ideal 2CV.

Oh, and that Charleston's bumpers look like lace. More air than metal in places. I'd replace them, but I admire the owner for not really giving a shit and just continuing to use her car as it was originally intended: as a tool to get her around rather than as an investment.

This is exactly it.

But is it not nice too to drive around in a nice looking car too - I have no intentions of selling mine but I do like it looking good and being well maintained.

Not sure why the rat look is more thought of than a nicely restored car :?
