Contrôle Technique - passed. The front left brake is not working correctly so the one guy sat on the front to equalise the brakes a little more for the machine to qualify the test. Don't you just love rural France

I will take a look at it although the braking seems pretty good to me on the road. Funniest thing was when he slammed on the brakes he nearly went through the windscreen as the seats in these vans are not secured in, they just hinge at the front, so when you brake hard they tilt forward

All done until 2020.... :D

Oops,
shouldn't there be two clips on top of the chassis to secure the seats?
They're positioned directly underneath the inner seat rails, are 'U' shaped and have a pin which can be withdrawn to allow the seat to tilt forwards.
However, having them fitted would disable your 'braking effort indicator' function...

I had them on my other van but I think this one is too early for them, nothing visible to say it had them at all.

Popped out in the Deuche this afternoon and I'm finding that the hot starting is better than it has been for quite a long while. Starts within around 5 to 10 seconds with my foot planted on the throttle pedal. I've been hearing a creaking/rattling type noise in the past week, and it seemed to emanate from the rear nearside corner of the car. I've looked under the car and found nothing obvious, so I took it round to Peter Cross for him to have a look. Seems it may be the bearing at the shoulder of the rear nearside suspension arm. Car booked in for the middle of next week for further investigation.

Received my fully renewed carb back - an absolutely amazing job. This guy makes all new parts himself, including cast parts if necessary. My carb received new spindles, the 2nd choke butterflly, gaskets, diaphragms and a few bits here and there. I actually regret I lost the broken CPOD I pulled off the carb - he could have fixed that as well...

I guess so. I could help with communication, I think he knows german, but doubt he knows english. Look here:
https://translate.google.com/translate? ... t=&act=url (and yes, google translate is hilarious).
PM me for details regarding costs. I can tell tell you I paid less for this job than I would for a used complete carb in unknown condition, plus I guess the exchange rates from PLN to GBP are in your favour.
The temperatures lately were a few degrees above freezing, and it's nice and dry, so I think it's time to move the car from winter storage and test this carb. Much looking forward to reliable idle & no flat spots :)

Quick thrash down M6 to an exhibition at the NEC today - ran really well, which is cue for a breakdown, and was holding a good 70+ much to the surprise of most behind me....maybe I might hold off fitting bored out cylinders and Pistons from Roy....

I like holding mine at 70. Its always seemed to quite like it. When it goes off the clock it goes eerily quiet, have you ever noticed that? I've never held it there for too long because it seems odd not to be able to hear everything so clearly. Supersonic! :)
