Just thinking this over... I think the only thing it does is giving even more stress to the chassis, now the greatest stress is going into the engine mounts, If you don't have them it will go immidiatly into the chassis. I think it will end up creating cracks just at a the weakest point of the chassis.. A motorcycle chassis is difrrent, only a small box and small mass to throw around. In the 2cv theres a lot of mass behind the engine, so only thing it can do is warp the chassis so eventualy it will crack... but hey Í'm not a constructor, this is out of my "lower abdomen" (dutch saying)..

I just done that quick drawing and set the dimensions like that to use as co-ordinates from 0,0 for reference on the Mill. Made it a simple process then finding each hole centre.


I have a 3 jaw chuck which rotates 360 degrees, so it is a lot easier to make this way on my mill...

Today a milled my Torx bolts down to hexagone 16mm with the same procedure, turning the chuck 60 degrees each time.. The Torx heads were 4 or 5mm to high (blocking the cluctchplate) so I turned them down first about 5mm...

So no more excuses, only thing left is to get some paint at the adaptorplate and then put it into a car... 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) I know what I'm doing this Xmas holyday....


I best modify my bolts to then. What clutch kit have you gone for? I need to order one.

Gut feeling!
I'm not sure, it makes sense it would stress the chassis more, but it is a super chassis.. Anyway it would make it a fair bit louder so I've tried to just brace the engine with the sump guard.

Have you seen the movie I made, I know it is a borring movie but I absorb a lot of information out of it... For instance i n this movie only 2 of the 4 enginmounts where reely mounted to the chassis.. so when revving the engine you can see the engine warp..

So with all four mounts attached I think it will be just fine... I can always put a screw+bolt through the engine mounts so I can adjust the movement of the engine (if neccecery to 0)..

@db78 I had a fairly Virginity??? clutch and pressure plate lying around so didn't need to buy one... Joolz reccomends a Valeo one...

We used boldt trick on our race , and it worked fine

Yeah I saw that, mine seemed to move less, maybe because of the GS box and the doughnut mounting, but I don't want this to take the stain as I think it might put too much stress on the bell housing..

I'll show you my mild solid mount when I have some photos later!

I don.t think this gives any stress at all to the gearbox. Also believe me theres masive strenght in the bellhousing it is round and well designed. So this would be my last concern...I have more problems that the engine is now hold by only Five M8 bolts. But hey my 3750 pounds winch hangz only on to 4 bolts M8....

And yes as always pictures please....

I like it a lot yesterday evening I got some more pics of a Beamer conversion. So many people are working on it... I reely believe this is the way to go instant tuning a 2cv... Ok it isn.t original anymore but I guess we hve to leave that path anyway in the near future.

A local racer - UK and Belgian kept cracked two bell housings when he used the original supplied fame with their kit - granted this was a 2cv gear box not GS..

It uses M8s to bolt to the rear of the sump on the stand mounts, eventually I'll have it mounted on bobbin type mounts but I doubt the post will be much use this side of christmas!

I think this is spot on. Because it is about 50 cm to the rear the chassis has less stress, maybee I put some 2mm C plates at the outsides of the chassis... and as told before I will make a L shape profile at the rearend of the gearbox just like backdiff of Mehari 4x4...

I also like my twin 2cv carbs with my linkage... Now I adjusted the valves I know for sure it will just run fine on this carbs.... I think I will do as I told, lean the mixure of and put the ignition to about 4 degrees after TDC at idle. (This was common at old V8-engines) so it will bring the iddle down to about 850 rpm I hope...

At last I know one thing for sure... There is a lot and I mean really a lot of power in this engine.... snipping the throttle will immidiatly rev the engine to 6k and more rpm... I think there is even a faster responce in the carbs then with injection....

Since the last time I run the engine I call it "the beast" and that is what it is a real beast...

I can't wait to put it in a car (still haven't made a decision (Ami 8 or '55 2cv) next week I will make a decision...

p.s. 1-2-spark is also doing great here... but for me that isn't a surprise anymore

Easy. '55 2cv, it has to be...

I've already decided that if I write mine off I'll salvage all the bits and put it in a ripple. That'll surprise a few Audi drivers..

Believe me a Audi driver doesn't notice the diffrence between a 2cv6 and ripple bonnet.. For him it is a beetle anyway.. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
