Escort sorted! Thanks for your help, chaps! :D

Unfortunately, didn't get to do anything on the van today, as I'd promised to help a mate by clearing out his late-father's garage. Found very little of interest, and had to take over 2000 motoring magazines and literally a ton of general shite to the tip. There was a massive queue to get into the tip - I guess everyone was taking the opportunity to get out and do something after the week's of gloom and rain we've been having.

However, did find a 2CV jack, plus 3no. rear light covers for an AK/AZU, so it wasn't all bad!

And the sun was out!

Was going to weld the rear drip channel on the van, the one that goes just above the rear doors, but can't find the measurement that I took before I removed the old one!

Can any van owners tell me the exact distance from the bottom of the drip channel to the top of the rear door aperture? It's around 20mm, but I'd like to know the precise measurement, so that I can be sure my rear doors will close.

(Pic shows the old drip channel, before I removed it.)

It is 22 millimeters on my van, but I think you are safe with 20mm .
Any more pics ? or haven't you made any progress lately ?

It is 22 mm , and you can see that the doors and rubbers have plenty room to close .

Thanks Geert. No progress lately, I'm afraid. I've been sidetracked by work, life and another project. :(

I even got roped into spending an afternoon teaching a mate how to weld! Imagine that! Me, an expert in bird-poo type welding, teaching someone to weld! He was better than me after about 15 minutes tuition!

Anyone got any step-by-steps on lower bulkhead replacement and A-panel replacement?

Change the whole thing and done waste time and effort doing the lower repair section, it's more of a PITA to change and always looks like a bodge. A panels are a fuckstick to fit without getting ripples in them (maybe its just my ineptitude) but generally speaking its simple enough.

Reminds me of the step-by-step to playing the drums:
1. Pick up drumsticks.
2. Hit drums... and that's how you play the drums!
Always suspected there's a bit more to it than that, but I'm not sure.
