At the age of 46,and a petrol head for as long as i can remember i have finally got my first 2CV.after a long line of classic/interesting cars and motorcycles.

After the first 500 miles can`t believe how much fun it is,and why i did`nt get one years ago!!!

I think i was lucky in getting a good car off e-bay which makes a pleasant suprise!

It has lived up to all the hype,proving to be a very sophisticated package with a great engine and road manners,but i don`t have to tell anybody on this forum that!!

Having run it on all roads except motorways it has proved as capable as any other car on the road,taking into account speed limits and traffic density,it makes so much sense.

Just one thing though,it does make me chuckle when all the macho men in their so called performance cars just cannot drive behind,even though i am making good legal progress,they just have to go blasting past,only to be caught up at th next queue or corner.so funny!

Whey!!! good to hear that there is another satisfied customer of the Citroen world. I am quite lucky to say that my 2cv was my first car at 17 and have now done over 15,000 miles in him in 2 years. They are the greatest cars to drive and it is good to hear you have enjoyed your first 500!

It is always great to p*ss off a guy in a bmw or such through corners on roads you know because a 2cv can handle surprisingly well! i have the choice most of the time to either drive my 2cv or my dads merc. i haven't driven that in over 3 months because nothing is more fun than the ride of a 2cv!

I can't believe how planted the car is, to the point it makes me wonder how amazing the DS must be given the 2CV was designed as a basic utility car. I have ridden in a CX before, that was an extremely rapid and comfy machine - but didn't have the balls to purchase, complicated Citroens and all that. Perhaps I should have.

The average time taken on a 30 mile journey I regularly make on a variety of roads is about the same as in my wife's Peugeot, which has 130 or so horsepower!!! And that's without clogging it. Can't believe people lpwer their cars to the ground and still use them though, having been browsing other threads - you guys are destroying one of the car's finest features!!! Must be bloody slow too?
