Post Re: The Nameless AZU
I have been doing stuff on this, just not been arsed to do the real work of posting on here....

So, I got the bulkhead out, then I wimped out of making one as I found this : http://www.renov-2cv-mehari36.com/en/bo ... model.html
and thought hey, bit of reworking, it'll do a treat. More on that later.

Having now got a good view of the parcel shelf & binnacle I decided the parcel shelf was beyond the pale too - and Renov do this... http://www.renov-2cv-mehari36.com/en/bo ... -2cv6.html
- s'only money

So everything came out :

The binnacle had suffered badly along the bottom edges & up the two r/angle braces for the rear of the battery box :

A bit of chopping & bending later :

And then some filling & painting - not too fussed about the inside having some lumpy weld as it will be invisible :)

All the brackets for the handbrake, gear lever and all the captive nuts for the 8mm head bolts got removed from the old panels and the brackets were plug welded to the new parcel shelf - also the little body number plate that is folded through 2 slots in the r/h underside of the parcel shelf got transfered, looong befor the parcel shelf got welded in!

Then there was a lot of 'fitting' - bending the ends about so it sat snuggly between the 'A' posts, trying to decide EXACTLY where the binnacle sits - this relaxing hobby can be very stressfull you know?!

And finaly with much trepidation the parcel shelf was plug welded to the cross bar and the ends buzzed on to the 'A' posts...

There is a fair bit of difference between the old bulkhead and the new panel I got. Most obvious being the placing of the heater inlets and the holes for the master cylinder/hanging pedal box.

I want to put the modern pedal box in the van so I can run an M28 in it thus I've used the heater duct holes as supplied. Their position will still accept the heater tubes from a 425/M4 whereas getting an M28 to connect to the early position ducts is a pain. In order to get the master cylinder mount on the bulkhead the l/h duct has to move anyway. Getting the old type handbrake & the vent operating rods through is a bit of a challange.
Most of the rest of the work on the bulkhead was captive nuts & studs. These are around the gear shift, handbrake & demister 'oles. The gear shift hole has to pe enlarged a bit for the old braced gear shift.

Last week I had 13 year old nephew as a garage slave so we got the body off the chassis (he plays rugby...)

And as a reward(?) he got to strip the heads off the vans engine & find out why it wouldn't run - well that was the plan. It did run & he did actually lap some valves but somehow I ended up doing most of it  He did like the 6inches of flame out of the end of the manifold tho  He spends a lot of time @ Santa Pod and thinks that's how all engines should behave. There's potential there...

If any of you AZU "freaks" need panels for it ... take a look at my shop ... http://citroen-2cv.moja-kosarica.si/si/iskanje/AZU/

Some of my AZU panels are available also at ECAS

Cheers Bobh that's still useful - querying some of the dimensions on the new panal, a second set of eyes on the measurements is v. helpful :D
