Drive it down to Louis' workshop, so when you come back and collect it for Salbris next year it will have been transformed into a beautiful 4x4!

I would remove the battery, run the carb dry ,change the oil (used motor oil contains seal damaging acids or something) ,and maybe jack it up and support it up on wood blocks so the weight is off the tyres if its going to be static for a few years .

Just park her as per normal but get someone to take her for a spind around the block every 3 month, no worries. We do this all the time with our cars down under + the many Europeans leaving car in Australia. Happy trip

Oboe, much the same advice as Ben has given, plus the following, since you're planning to be away for such a long spell... Remove the spark plugs, put a few shots of oil into each cylinder, turn the engine to top dead centre and screw the plugs in finger tight. On your retour, remove the plugs, disable the ignition and spin the engine over (with that new battery you've had to buy) until the oil warning light goes out. By that time, some of the fresh fuel that you've just put in the tank should have reached the carb, so you can install the plugs properly and fire her up. ken. ben wrote: I would remove the battery, run the carb dry ,change the oil (used motor oil contains seal damaging acids or something) ,and maybe jack it up and support it up on wood blocks so the weight is off the tyres if its going to be static for a few years .

What happens if you don't. My Viking Van is sleeping in Melb. for the last year. When I picked him up, he started straight away, no worries.

Have you had it started regularly? I'd rather a bit of oil in the bores than risk it siezing, and to help it before the oil is circulating when restarted?

Yes that's my whole point. Get someone to start and drive the beast around the block every 3 month and you don't need to do anything. I don't, never will.
