I spotted this the other day:

Image

Quote:
Here for sale is a rare LHD body shell for 2cv,,, all in good condition,, THIS LISTING IS FOR THE BARE SHELL NOT THE WINGS,DOORS,BONNET etc ,,,,,,,We havent seen one so good for long time especially LHD. All in amasing condition

So, with that in mind, I was curious as to why the car wasn't available complete - I had to ask...

Quote:
Hi, because where it has been used in a film it has a structure underneath that is like the Forth bridge welded to the chassis, so only option is for someone to use the shell for rebuild. So the body has to come off. Sure yes someone will rebuild it but it wont be me.... engine and box missing when i got it, chassis totally shot....

My local 2CV specialist was asked to quote for that film - five 2CVs all the same. They did so - money was no object , and then the film company decided they wanted LHD instead and went to someone else.

The shell he's advertising was apparently the car used for interior shots, it was mounted on some sort of rig, by the frame under the front, and filmed in front of a green screen. He won't have got any sort of documents with it. From the fact that that car has still got doors on it, I wonder if he must have bought one of the other cars too?

There were at least 5 cars used in the film, I know the whereabouts of the 2 quick ones. ;)
