Went to first car show/ car boot sale today in Pontorson. Some nice cars there of all different ages - lovely Renault 4cv's, DS and Tractions as well as many 2cv's and Dyanes. Crap car boot sale - 4 outside stalls with junk and so many stalls inside just sell Dinky toys... The French must love model cars...

Started mine, just as my neighbour went past - he jumped out of his skin.

Then took it for a spin 8-)

Best day of the year so far, so got the 2CV out, got the hood fully open, and went for a drive round Gloucestershire. Fantastic! :D

Pottered out in René I to the shops and to get my hair cut - He is running like a dream.

René II now has indicators working (isn) but I have just ordered a 6 volt flasher unit to bring them up to date a little. Just waiting for the brake light switch to arrive tomorrow and I will be ready for his CT (MOT).

Oh and I had a naughty little potter in René II around the back lanes - he runs even better than René I.

Chuffed to bits :D

Went for a spin. Must get the fumes in cab sorted, it's like chemical suicide in there

Cylinder head blowing at the joint with the barrel? Does it only happen with the heater on?

I taxed mine and drove it for the first time since, er, November. I seem to do this ... I buy a car, stick it on the drive and take the engine out, then it stays there for months until I finally put it back together, drive it for a few short journeys, then sell it on. Alright, I haven't sold this Dyane yet, but I think it'll only be a matter of time.

Changed the carburettor for my spare today. The old one was leaking petrol from the base - which was no wonder as there was no gasket - and the tickover adjustment screw was broken. I also suspected it hadn't been rejetted, which upon stripping it down on the bench, I found was true. It was jetted at 106. The "new" carb is jetted at 110, so fingers crossed it'll sort out the pinking which was in evidence on the way to work last night.
Whenever I strip and rebuild a carb I vow to get pictures and do a techie write up for the forum ... this time I might actually do that.

Swapped over seat covers between vans so photies will be taken tomorrow on René I for the Le Bon Coin :(

Sorted out and adjusted the headlights for René II which are pretty strong but as I was taking my time I flattened the battery a little.

Just waiting for that brake light and then we got to Mr CT man.

Rhythm Thief,
is this the mid-70s Dyane? ( I've lost track of what's in your rotating stock at the moment... ;) )
Anyway, an earlier Dyane should have had the 21-24 version of the 26/35 carburettor on which the petrol jets would have been 120 (or 125) and 70.
Also, there weren't any paper gaskets used under the carburettors ex works.
I find that flatting off the carburettor base with a file, to correct any bowing caused by over-tightening the nuts, plus a thin coat of Wellseal on both sides of the spacer block will work fine.
