As for my A series and what I did with it today, I put the heat exchangers back on it, set the timing (which, oddly, was bang on statically and dynamically, despite me just having stuck the points box on any old how) and ran it. Tomorrow I'll set the clutch free play, sort out an exhaust blow at the offside cylinder head, put the front valance back on and connect up the heater cables. Then it should be back on the road, once I can scrape together the cash to insure and tax it.

That was lucky Jon. Dont think thats ever happened before.

I find it always moves slightly when i do the two bolts back up (yes im thay fussy!!))

Suppose thats why setting the timing can take me a whole :D

Took the carpet out to dry her out after all the rain and snow. Sorted the leaks from around the wipers area, new rubber seals under the spindle nuts and a good dose of wax oil. Wax oiled under the window rubbers and other vulnerable spots.Cleared the boot out treated the rust spots. Then left a fan heater running inside the front of the car with the vent flap open and boot lid ajar to dry her out even more. Carpets left out to dry off rubber mat back in for the time being.

Yeah but it smells better than the damp musty smell and as I'm going back to France in a week or so and the 2Cv will be standing for almost 3 months I thought I'd sort of get her sorted a bit

Had to do quick run to catch the school as it finished to pick up children. Reason is I had to avoid a French guy in a narrow lane in my van and ended up half in a muddy ditch and somehow the the bang etc made the cam belt jump and hey presto valves hit pistons and on inspection this evening the camshaft is in 3 pieces!!!!!!   :( :(
Will have to try and come back to UK to buy new van very sooon.

"Are you still smarting after the "football fans are all morons" thread by any chance? "

Not really, it's just joshing isn't it........prefer my egg chasers to be real men, rather than doctors and yuppies, and play Rugby League.

League, eh? Where I'm from in Yorkshire, Union is the thing, which I'm told is unusual for those parts. Feelings run so high about it that there's a painting of a past team in the bar of the clubhouse, and if you look closely at it you can see where two players, who subsequently went on to play League, have been carefully painted out. Me, I don't understand the differences ... I was a big disappointment to my Grandad, who was one of the mainstays of Otley rugby club.
