Of course, as some of you may know, our major problem was a buggered gearbox. We travelled about 200 miles in third to try and save the box. We booked it into the 'garage' on Wednesday supposedly at 2pm. By about 4 the French crew, after a little chivying from us, had a quick listen and thought the gearbox had been 'unwound.'

The exact same thing happened with my Dyane on the way to the Swedish WM. Nursed the car there in third. Found an eye-wateringly expensive replacement box on the flea market.
Rounded up some voulunteers and the next day we had the box changed and car back together over a few beers and banter. It actually turned into a really fun day, with a real sense of comraderie and team effort. In fact probably the best day of the meeting for me. It's what 2cv'ing is all about.

We're just back last night, a 1700 mile tour with no trouble. Had a good craic in the queue by getting inebriated (what else is there to do in a 9 hour queue) and light sabre fighting with 6 year old nephew who was travelling with us in a following vw bay camper with his parents and sister, they had never been to a 2cv event and enjoyed it despite the debacle when we got into town .
No room on site so back to town, 3 times sent back to site by gendarmes despite telling them there was no room. Bumped into Kim (Wiltzes daughter?) who kindly said we might be able to squeeze in near them but on the third attempt in the dark we gave up and set up camp at 1am down the road on a building site where we stayed for 3 nights like pikeys

This austrian car was nice, and his bird was as fit as f*#k too i have to say (the one caressing the headlamp ,with her back to us unfortunately)
