I once aquaplaned my Acadiane on 145s, something the "rubber razor blade" 125s are not especially prone to.

there's a really good article in a book I have about Citroen's reasoning for the 'skinny' tyres, I might scan it actually.

I don't really have much choice, I only have 145s so that's what will have to go on!

Eh? I'd have a good look at your car if the steering is that heavy!

Got lovely, light steering on my 2CV, but it does have the obvious later steering-rack with lower ratio, the earlier quillery steering-wheel and only runs on 135 XZs.

Oops, confusion reigns in the Dev's brain - it's been a few months since I've driven the 2CV as it needs a restore; I got mixed up - my steering comments were a throw-back to my Marlin. The 2CV felt power-assisted in comparison.

(Still quite heavy tho'... ;) )

French paper-pushing at its best?
When I was advertising Furniss Engineering's products in France, almost every enquiry received mentioned 'homologation' or approval from the 'Service des Mines'.
I wonder if those same organisations considered and approved the use of those pop-riveted floor (& chassis rot hiding) repair panels...

ken

p.s. Just checked in Revue Technique, for 'roues et pneus' and 135 section tyres were a standard fitting for Acadianes and Mehari, or 'en option' for any A series model. :?

They are very fussy about a vehicle having the correct specification tyre on. When 125's became difficult to get my local CT station took advice from the DRIRE [people who make and enforce the rules] as to whether he could pass my car on 135's. They could and now do.

Just a simple example Ken, the best I have come across is

If you import a car here, import tax is charged if it is six months old or less. So you would think that a 1955 car would be obviously out of the frame for said tax... No you need a certificate that say you don't need a certificate of import duty paid.
