Don't forget to check the pulley for fatigue cracks.

That's the thing I don't understand where the bolt made it's escape! It's sort of penned in and caged up aint it? Jumped straight out of the hole at the front? or hiding in the cooling ducts somewhere? Crafty little bugger that one!

might be worth a rummage in the cooling or under tray ;)

also may be worth taking a bike down the route where you thought you lost it

Post Re: Fan Pulley Bolt Size?
Now things just get more :) :? : .... I walked down to a the local parts place to get a new belt, they clicky clcky on the 'puter wander into the warehouse and get one and I happily go back home clutching my £3 bit of notched rubber. BUT soon as I try to put on it's so obviously to small even with the alternator pushed down as far as it goes....

As this place is only five minutes drive away I decide to take Bubbles down there... no quibbles they give me the next size up and it fits perfectly, so I start it up and check everything is turning smoothly... all A OK and go back inside to tell 'em that one is the right belt!.....

Just one last thing before I close the bonnet, tighten all the nuts before I move off (fan cage can go back on later!).... There a foot in front of the bumper and directly inline of the fan is a bolt with a lock washer... 'blimmin eck' I didn't leave it that slack again when I was testin' did I?.... As I went to put it back in.... there was a bolt already in! :D :) OOH! Yoo bad bad naughty lickle Fing!.... t'was the original bolt !

Where the Fook was it hiding!

BTW I have a habit of mildly rebuking parts as they seem to try to perform better next time!
