Jameswallace wrote: now, ive mever understood bolts etc, i get it when its in mm and inches, but what does it mean by m8, i know thats 8mm cos it says, but why m8?? If you refer to a "8mm" bolt, are you talking about a bolt with an 8mm head, or a bolt with an 8mm thread? M8 refers, unambiguously, to the thread size. (Well, apart from the thread pitch...) If you think primarily in terms of 8mm, you might be thinking of the hex head size, which is usually M5 thread - and you might go and do something daft like buy threaded studding off fleaBay that's 3mm bigger than you really want, so will require _yet_ more back-figuring to try to get a half-arsed bodge to fit rather than admit you've cocked up... But that'd just be silly, wouldn't it? And you're not silly, are you, James?

Luke wrote: I used to have a larger battery on my 2cv - it came off a berlingo, and it was free I seem to recall it had much the same footprint, but was slightly taller. The rods weren't quite long enough for that, but by taking the springs out, I could *just* get it to do up. I found a Xsara HDi circa 2000 did the trick. Higher amperage, fits in the tray and the terminals are the right way round

Didn't you fit a tow bar to your car.l I reckon it would be easier to buy http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... Categoriesfrom Ebay, fit it with the new battery you have and install a battery charger in the boot to charge your old battery as you go along.

Re: Battery Cables, + fuel pipe question all in one go
simplest way to think of it as what size hole will it go through?
M8 goes through a 8mm hole, M7 - 7mm, M6 - 6mm etc the clue is in the name
