 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
The recent carburettor choke problems have triggered off a chain of thinking that has lead to this seemingly totally unrelated post, but I'll tell you how my thinking went. Started seeing leaves on the trees going brown and falling off so began thinking "Ok, so Autumn's here"Went to start the car one particularly cold day and for the first time this year needed a touch of choke. Having used the choke I discovered it didn't return properly, thus highlighting there was a problem. Thoughts of winter, especially during this last Wednesday which was an almost freezing day around this neck of the woods, conjured up thoughts of insulating the car from the worst sub zero temperatures that might arise if we have another winter like last year. I placed an add for one of those insulating roof liner thingy's. I know that something quick and inexpensive like a layer of bubble-wrap would do, but I can't face the thought of driving right up the M6 while the Mrs pops bubbles in my roof liner. Then I remembered.... Laydeez and GennellmenI give you...... Bam! - This! Guaranteed to stop you nodding off on those long tiring journeys. All the colours associated with dropping a tab of acid without the memory loss. Mrs Nail made this a couple or more years back when the car was still a Bamboo green one, it has insulated padding, and on the reverse side it's rubber backed so can be used as a picnic blanket or a dry mat in an emergency. It's been sat in the garage ever since as she never got round to sewing the velcro tabs on the ends. I shall be buying velcro shortly, watch this space.

Old Nail - that is the most shocking, foul and utterly garish piece of textile I have ever seen. Is she planning to make any more... ?

Phew. Er, I mean damn.
How come your missus is such a dab hand at the ol' sewing machine? And at what stage of the restoration proceedings did you realise/gamble that the bright red interior would look good with green bodywork? 'Cos you've heard the saying; 'red & green should never...'? But it works - wonderfully. I'm guessing that it wouldn't have worked with a 'stronger' green?

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
My Mrs is something of a marvel when it comes to making stuff. Machinist, confectioner (makes wedding cakes and the like) and now painter after I taught her how to paint. The old saying about red and green shouldn't be seen goes back to the colour theory that I was talking about earlier, because they are antagonistic colours. But, as in every area of my life, where there are rules I like to break them. As you correctly deduced by altering the saturation and amounts of each colour i.e a smaller amount of red to a large amount of pale green it works. Interestingly, a red car with green seats wouldn't.

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
Mini update of sorts, but more of an interesting aside than anything else. I've still not tackled the sticking choke as we had a 'do' to attend last night in Wigan, and I didn't want to chance having my carb still in bits/and or be looking for a lost spring or ball bearing so then end up in a costly taxi there and back. Got up this morning and felt like digging out a few old tunes which was great, played all kinds of stuff all day which really lifted my spirits, but here's the odd thing, for no reason at all the last track I played was Instant Karma by Lennon. Sunday is also the day when I often call down to make sure all is well with my old folks, and last time I went I had something - which I now suspect to be sugar put in my fuel. My intention today was to knock on the door of the suspect house and ask them if they knew anything about it, while giving them my best 'Yosser Hughes' stare. But, a I drove down the street toward the house in question there was an ambulance outside it and they were carrying someone out on a stretcher. Instant karma?

 Re: My old Blue Bamboo
I can't assume that James as I don't know if my suspicions are correct, so I can't say that they did it for certain, and always remember what they say; "To Assume makes an ASS out of U and ME." Maybe not the best thing to write given your problem with spelling! <joke buddy> I would have been happier to confront them as I'm petty good at reading body language, but now I'll never know, as I wouldn't like to hassle potentially innocent folk that are ill.
