 AZ Wiring Diagram, 1983 Charleston
I am trying to sort out the wiring on this newly acquired car. (Not operational when acquired). The diagrams in either Haynes or Porter dont match my wiring. 1, I have two fuse boxes and color coding is not clear altho I think one box is for Headlights and the other for the rest of the circuits. 2. I dont have any Hazzard light switch. 3. What is a Nivocode warning light? 4. When I installed an electronic distributor, I lost the alternator idiot light. Why? 5. I have an extra pair (one ground, one green) behind the speedo panel. What for? Does anyone have a diagram that might fit the above conditions? Any practical suggestions will be appreciated.

Probably the voltage reader, used to be on 'club' versions and discarded with later dashboard but Citroen left the wiring there. I have a seperate gauge with this wired to it.

Since there's no "alternator idiot light", I'd also guess that it's the oil pressure light that's gone AWOL - especially given the proximity of the connectors. The wire's probably just been disconnected from the loom, but maybe whoever fitted the ignition got a bit over-enthusiastic in tidying up the wiring... Nivocode warning is brake fluid level (niveau = level). Press the button, and the light should light. Push down on the little "pip" sticking out of the top of the brake fluid reservoir cap, and the light should light. Otherwise, the light should never light. Assuming your car's a "proper" Charleston, with the big Club-style speedo/voltmeter/fuel dash, rather than just a swirly Special with the little speedo/fuel only dash, the hazard switch'll be round the side of the instruments, by the gear lever. There's probably two pairs of surplus wires - one for a main beam warning light and one for indicator warning lights. Have a look at http://www.2cvstuff.com/2CV_yourstuff_W ... grams.html for wiring diagrams. Oh, and welcome!

Thanks, I'll check the Yourstuff diagrams. Right! it is the oil press warning lite. It worked until quite recently. Maybe something disturbed. Still cant find a hazard sw. Is it the push contact sw. that is above the windscreen wiper sw.? And it's a proper Charleston being improper. The High and low beam indicator lights have been relocated to the left side. and yes someone has mucked up the wiring.

All bets are off, then... <grin>
