Post Advice/Decision making/new 2CV or not?
Hellooo

So Scott and I are thinking of travelling next year and are probably going to do it in a 2CV, so far we are just in discussion stage as to where we wanna go what we wanna do etc but I dont know if i want to take Betty.

Choices are:
Take Betty anyway and bring her home again and then fly out somewhere warm for November and December

Buy a cheap 2CV (or i quite fancy a dyane perhaps) make sure its all ok for driving long distances get out as far East as we can then fly out to somewhere hot leaving the car there and selling it?

how much am i really looking at buying a new 2CV and sorting it out? or am i better off sorting Betty out and just going in her?

ta muchly x

LHD dyane is quite cheap to buy, as you know. 2 2cv is easier to fix due to the front wings, which is easy to fix on dyane. 1000 € is enough to buy one in good condition.

Take Betty, Sort it out as much as possible. Including ride height etc. Drive round Europe and find a friendly 2cver... like Louis B and see if he has space in Croatia to hold her.

Define "travelling"...

How long, how far, are you planning on sleeping in the car?

Leaving after french world meeting, travel until november perhaps (unless its starts getting waaaaay to cold for camping) hop on a plane to Thailand for christmas and new year home in January. Not sure where we are planning for definate yet wherever we fancy.

not sleeping in the car will have tents etc

NOT ANOTHER 2CV! I've got enough work with the ones we have! Betty IS on the list and 2011 WM is an easy target to get her sorted.

All she needs is new sils and a bit of a patch up and engine maybe? but that appered to run fine with no probs (bar the throttle return spring) on the FN trip so i think we fixed the engine, tho i can't remember what we did?

Keep Betty drive around abit then I'll fly out where ever you are a bring her back if you can't find a place for her ;)

The term CARNET springs to mind. This an expensive document which guarantees that when a person brings a vehicle into a country, they damn well leave with it. I know from the long distance motorcycling world that in many countries, you can't simply end your trip then sell your machine. Do some research in the subject to avoid problems later, Louise.
