Well I had been meaning to until I dislocated my left shoulder last week... I can't really shift gears just now and am 'supposed' to be in a sling for 4 weeks... hence fitting these today haha  but if I can change gear on Friday i'm heading down!

Why is it that when you think everything is ok and you're pleased with the work you've done over the last couple of weekends, something comes along and kicks you in the arse?! I could smell petrol yesterday and this morning when I went off in my other car and I thought that it might just be because at the weekend I had the fuel feed off and certainly dropped petrol on the drive. However, when I got home the interior reeked of fuel and looking around the engine revealed no leaks - so, trace the fuel line back and, sure enough, near where it goes into the chassis and the tank, it's dripping fuel.....grrrrr. Anyways up, spent an hour dropping a half full tank down - shit its heavy! - and the flexible bit seems to have perished and was soaking...luckily uncle Roy had sold me more than I needed last time I replaced the pump to carb bit so hopefully now will be OK for a little while. Learnt from my previous mistakes and poured the remaining fuel into a number of spares cans I seem to have accumulated over the last few years and it's amazingly easy to get a tank back in! Now why didn't I think of that before rather than struggle using knees, jacks, a few bricks etc to try and hold a tank weighing 20Kgs or more up as they always seem to have problems when you have a nearly full tank! (Btw I haven't got any tubing for a syphon in case people think, perhaps rightly, I am a numpty)

^ I got a cheap little suction pump thing from Euro Car Parts that comes in so handy for fluids.

Took my Deuche to have its king pins done, and got it back the same day, surprisingly. It feels reeeeally nice, but I'm not sure it isn't just psychological. The test will be on the motorway, seeing if it still vibrates. It's always been so smooth but developed a rhythmic vibration lately that seemed to come and go.

Before this I gave it a full cut and polish cos I was embarrassed how faded it had got after another winter outside. It looks very shiny, but still needs a respray after I microblistered the paint with a jet washer, boo :-(

Post Re: What did you do with your A Series today?
Yet again a chapter of disasters!.....decided to go to our shed in Ludlow in it yesterday and about 500yards from home conked out....ahha me thinks, I've crimped the fuel pipe under the tank...so pushed it home, all up hill of course, and then fannied around for about an hour to discover my so called fix from the weekend meant the new pipe pulled itself off the tank as it was just too short..feck. So, refitted old pipe and away we go....have to say the 652cc makes a huge difference and pulls up hills at 60 when struggled at 50 before. Any ways up, I noticed a little petrol smell all the way over and thought I would try and get some pipe today....could get 6mm but couldn't find any 5.5mm so the better half said fix it rather than bodge it when we get home. So stops to get fuel in Leominster and coming back from the shop spots that the fucking thing is pissing fuel from the clear pipe that runs down the side of the car...to cut a long story short, managed to buy some 6mm pipe plus clips to go from pump to carb and used the bit I had there to bridge the broken bit......long suffering wife still appears to be talking to me at the moment.

This was yesterday - We had a 2CV meeting, scenic drive out to Romsley for dinner.
Jonathan Barwick is down from Shetland at the moment, so he joined us, as did Tev in his Modcon at the pub, plus Mark, Kevin, Marie, and Ian & Louise.

Good night had by all 8-)
