I've driven 622 miles in my 2cv today.
Do I get a prize?

Nels,
never seen one of sets these close up before, but that looks like a standard 2CV barrel bored out from 74mm to 77mm, so it'll probably be a good plan to observe good running-in procedure.
If I recall correctly, it was Two Horse Stable who first started fitting Visa pistons to A series engines in the UK and I know that they did have some problems with the pistons nipping up in the barrels, probably linked to reduced barrel wall thickness, aggravated by the higher compression ratio and maybe not rejetting the carburettor to richen the mixture a shade.
It will probably help if the ignition timing is set on the conservative side, keeping temperatures lower...

Me too seeing as it's £300 or so - bastard gudgeon pin clips are real fuckers to get in as they really need circlip pliers which of course I don't have.....

Fitted the big bore today - apart from leaking banjos seems good - definitely pulls better and holds speed up hill - tbh haven't done more than a few miles but first impressions are favourable - any tips how I should run these in?

Nels,
by curious coincidence, a search of the forum for 'running in' produced this result... :)

Did a first proper run with the 9:1 barrels and pistons in. Feels great, pulls well, but I still seem to have a fair oil leak with it running. Spatters down the right chassis leg, bottom of the engine dripping, and a couple of little streams on the garage floor after a few minutes parked up. More work for tomorrow.

That'll be the oil feed to the head leaking - they are right little bastards - nip, nip, nip, bugger, stripped thread.....

Helicoil. The Haynes torque figure is at the top end of the yeild strength of M7 in ally. Its almost guaranteed to strip the thread. Thread stripping is a progressive process where the first 2 or 3 threads pull so you can go on taking the bolt out re torquing and eventually you have nothing left. A helicoil is stronger than a 8.8 M7 bolt and certainly stronger than a banjo bolt. I tested a few to destruction for 2cvgb. Half the Haynes figures and anneal new washers as they dont seem annealed after the stamping. Also check there is no crusty ring of corrosion around the edge of the old washer quick tickle with a file so your seating the washer on bright aluminium
