Well decided to do the full monty and had an expensive trip to Uncle Roys this pm - pair of tie rod ends, new knife edges and a full set of shockers (haven't told she who must be obeyed that I've also bought a big bore kit too!)Fitted the lot inside of an hour and now feels much better with little wheel shimmer and float and bounce....aim to fettle the engine at the weekend if weather holds out....anybody fancy some 9:1 pistons and barrels - £50 notes - only done around 5,000 miles - once I've got them out?

When do you expect to have them out? I'd be quite interested in the Pistons and barrels. I also agree with Rusty, when zoomed in that shackle does look cracked. Not that it matters now.

change the jets in the carb as well!

otherwise you could be stranded soon (and you'd whish you'd still have the 9:1 on the shelf...)

or even better, try to get hold of a Visa 650 carb, heard many good things of those in combination with a BB kit! (not sure if you need the manifoldspider as well)

good luck and many (slow) miles ahead untill it is driven in well (seems to be very important with BB kits!)

greetzzzzzzzzzzz Rusty

Cheers for the info Rusty......kit comes with larger jets so should be OK on that front - thought most people now suggest just driving engines hard to temper rings and barrels from the get go? What's different about BB kits?

Me too seeing as it's £300 or so - bastard gudgeon pin clips are real fuckers to get in as they really need circlip pliers which of course I don't have.....
