Time for the annual insurance pics. I hate that, but its come up nice after being pretty much neglected since August. A good few hours of cleaning though to get it back to normal.
Poor old thing is still in need of paint after I managed to microblister it all with a very hot pressure washer. Grrr. Its still purdy though :)

Finally got around to the front floor, it was so nice and shiny before but eventually the usual water ingress resulted in the paint going all dark and a couple of blisters showing :(
Anyway ground it down, washed it off with Bilt Hamber Deox-Gel, treated the remainder of the surface rust with Hydrate-80, then painted it with POR-15. Should be good for a good long while, I'll have to find some matching paint to coat it with.

I also drilled a couple more holes in the front floor to allow any water out. I did drill a couple about three years ago but I should have done it way before then and the rust wouldn't have happened in the first place.
It doesn't leak a lot, just a little in the rear door hinge area I think, and then it dribbles down to the front under the rubber matting. It did leak a lot through a rusty vent flap which I replaced, it would fill up with water though!

Ian,
are you sure that those holes are...
1/ in the right spots?
2/ big enough?

After fitting new floors, I usually park the car on level ground, pour some water into the footwells, then drill through with a 10mm bit where the water sits deepest.

Also, bashing a tapered bar (aka 'podger') through afterwards will form a nice 'drip' on the underside. ;)

Ken, great tip about bashing a bar into the holes, I may do that.

I think they are in a good place. I've left the seats out and since it rained I went to have a look to see where water came in. Actually it was bone dry around the door seals etc but for some reason water comes in the drivers side at the bottom of what passes for a a B pillar. Odd eh.

My car was badly vandalised years ago though and was tipped on its side. The top of the channel the door slides into is a bit misshapen, maybe that's why. Perhaps the bit where the gutter meets the body is a little split, I can't tell.

water runs in along the front door pillar and as it is sloping in, the water drops off at the wrong side, in the car.... so you have to get the water back outside before the bottom end of the pillar.. I was thinking in making a small gutter of kit around the pillar to lead the water out..

Spotted another little water leak. So it comes down that B pillar but only on the drivers side. The front doors don't let anything in at all when parked, surprisingly.

This other one is a bit of rust at the bottom of the passenger side rear quarter light window. The seal is obviously not good. I'll get some rust treatment on it tomorrow. It's just a dribble but we know how it will slowly fill up under the rubber matting. It's dribbling down from the window and then a little bit under the back seat and then onto the floor.

Oh and it's running badly when cold. More than its meant to. And a hesitation when warm too. Checked the plugs and they look fab, only not very tight. Bet it's just that, I get so paranoid about mullering the threads, I under tighten them I expect and they get looser with a bit of time.

The indicator on one side wasn't working every time so I checked that and it was just the earth attached to the indicator unit. Fine now. I feel bad I've been going around wondering why nobody has been pulling out of junctions until I've turned in.
