Any personal computer experts out there, who can tell me what this means? It just appeared as my machine was booting. :(

Looks as though one of your RAM modules has died. It checks them when you first turn it on, and after it's failed the test it's disabled that module. There are normally two, so until you replace it the machine will be running with half the memory. Should still work but it will be a bit slow. Easy to replace - they just clip into slots on the motherboard. if it's a laptop then there will probably be a small panel on the underside which you can remove to get at it, but if it's a desktop then you'll have to take the cover off!

Ah, thank you for that. Now, is there a clever way to tell which module has died, or do I just try swapping one and then boot up and see if the problem persists or goes?

I did a 12car rally last night. What a grand way of spending an evening. We made a complete bollocks of the first section and missed the first couple of time controls, leaving us 45 minutes late, but we plugged on and managed to finish 5th out of 9 starters. I am amazed the car is still in one piece as you have to seriously abuse the vehicle (and the Highway Code). I wholly recommend joining a local motor club and doing a 12car rally. Imagine doing the Times crossword against the clock whilst doing motorway speeds on single track country roads.

I hadn't heard of those before, just been looking up any which may be run local to me. They do look like fun ...
