Depends on your skills... Start in the front bottum corner and gradually work the rubber out.
Putting back is the easy bit. Place the rubber around the window and put some grease on the frame and in the rubber. Put a string in the in the rubber and leave the ends hanging out. Than press the window with rubber in the door and pull the string away from the door which makes the rubber fold back around the edge of the door.

Does that make any sence to you?

Another way to get them out that can be easier if you don't have fingers of steel is to don some flip flops, lie on your back on the rear seat, and put even pressure on the window for a few minutes, it will slowly move itself out.

You ideally need an assistant to catch it and to watch to ensure you are applying the force in such a manner that the glass remains flat.

This works very well with windscreens too.

For putting them in the only thing I would add over what Bart has said is that dyneema sailing string seems least keen on snapping, and a fair bit of washing up liquid can be of use.

Given that not even Citroen have ever managed to make glass rust, find some spare glass, then break the old one. Job done.

Oh, and if you've got a rotten door needing to donate it's glass, just cut the rubber with a stanley knife.

terpineol,
I've seen this recommendation previously and it made me nervous reading it, trying to avoid visualising the result if the windscreen happened to break... :(

Considering how easy to remove _any_ of the glass, including the windscreen, from an A series vehicle by gradually feeding the inner lip of the rubber past the metal flange which retains it, I really don't understand why people resort to forcing it out.

The same applies to destroying either the glass or the rubber seal.

When replacing glass, probably best to avoid washing up liquid, because of its high salt content, especially since Waxoyl or similar will do the job.

Rant over, for now... ;)

ken.

At work we use tyre soap and a bit of wire for re-assembling windows, doesnt washing up liquid or summin, could be WD40 even swell the rubber and make it hard to refit the window?
