Ignition Leads
I think my leads are past their best. I have the yellow silicone ones that came with the yellow 'Harley' coil that I've had on there for ages.
I had an odd misfire on start up recently and one wire end seemed a bit loose so I tightened it with pliers and that sorted it. I don't really see what else can be wrong with such leads but the car is still a bit more juddery than usual.
Do we have any preference for new leads that will fit this? Looking online I suspect my choice is pretty limited because of the ends needing to be at right angles where they attach to the coil. £45 at Ecas for some reason.

Re: Ignition Leads
I believe the recommendation is the standard black coil in pair with Bougicord lead set. Nevertheless if you keep the Harley coil you better get the silicone leads.

Re: Ignition Leads
Thanks. I've quite liked the Harley coil, it's been on there quite a few years now. I did have trouble with the original ones overheating. Are they meant to have an advantage though?

Re: Ignition Leads
Old leads get pourous and sparks can go to the earth. I had a loose connector too that caused the connector slowly being burned up by the sparks. Bad adjusted contacts can cause overheating of the coil. I had that in my landrover. It worked well in freezing temperatures but as soon as it got warmer the coil got to hot. I had to adjust and maesure the contacts several time to get close to the handbook contact angle. After that no more overheating coil.

Re: Ignition Leads
I can't help thinking I'd be wasting my time replacing the leads. They should be fine if they're silicone. I did tighten up the connections.

Re: Ignition Leads
They look fine to me. I don't think the silicone ones get all leaky over time.
