1964
January: Body; dents in the roof over the driver and passenger on all types.
Interior; seatbelts are optional. For this the chassis and body have been modified.
March: Electric; rear lights with integrated licenseplate light???.
April: A round plate with the colour number placed on the firewall.
June: Wheels; tubeless tires and modified rims.
July: Brakes; reduced diameter line from 6mm to 4.5mm.
November: New gearbox ratios for the AZU.
December: Doors; front doors are no longer suicide but open at the rear.

I guess the simple answer is it's a post December '64 body with a pre '61 bonnet?

Indeed it isn't 1958 - perhaps just the bonnet and maybe the vehicle identification plate and paperwork too. The rest of the bodywork looks like a mid-1960s version: window behind the cab, no corrugations in the lower part of the rear sides (a 1963 change), etc. We'll just have to hope it isn't being sold by an I2F member who will post here to explain that really it's all kosher because .....

I think it really was a PO van: they normally had an extra U-section bar put across where the rear "bumpers" go, and this meant that the reflectors had to be mounted a little higher - and you can see that is where they are/were. There are also small bolts on the upper forward-facing part of the cargo section (above the driver's cab) that would have held on the postman's bike-carrier. I suspect the reinforcement for the bike carrier was included years after the bike carriers stopped being fitted.

It's a pity there aren't any pictures of the engine, or the bulkhead, or the dashboard, but it looks as if it hasn't been up-rated to a 602cc motor.

I also messaged him, asked if it had had a shell change, he said no not as far as he knew. So I sent him the gist of young Samual's post and a photo of a '58, his name is Simon btw, but have had no reply so far....
Bids still going on I see...

The rear doors are visible at the back of one of the pictures: they have the larger glass windows, not fitted until March 1963 according to Jeroen Cats.

It's a little puzzling that all the bits that would have helped to date it properly aren't shown in the pictures. I will try asking if Simon can post a picture of the engine bay.

I think I'd give him credit for doing a really good paint job, and of course it's quite possible it was a previous owner, and not him, who played around with the paperwork and the identification plate (and presumably the bonnet!).

Personally I don't like 2CVs that are too shiny. But then that's because I can only afford a paintbrush.
