Hi everyone,although i have had many classic cars this is my first 2cv! I`ve tackled a few jobs but tonight i`ve stripped one side to replace the king pins,everything has gone to plan and i was at the stage of putting the dummy kingpin (ecas set) in to adjust the vertical play....... The question is, with all of the spacers dust cap etc in place i can`t get it all to go together as there is is no clearance at all, i only had time for a few gentle! taps with a mallet before i came in! So can you get different thicknesses of washers to the ones supplied from ecas? Bearing in mind i need thinner not thicker. Also i feel the "eye" on the suspension arm is a bit worn but obviously you can`t really tell until you have it all back together properly shimmed up and greased can you!! After i`ve done a few I`ll probally get a feel for it,but for now any comments or advice will be gratefully received. Thanks Andy |

Thanks for the replies everyone! I just love forums! its great to talk to people with similar interests but more knowledge!! it would take ages to get this info otherwise. I think i can make it work but fear that the suspension arm holes are on their last legs,i just hope it will pass the mot one more time. To 2cv4x. yes i do live in Mowcop well spotted! |

Sorry but no. I have very strong views on doing the job properly. If you can wait 2-3 weeks, I have oversize king pins in stock. Standard pins are 17 mm in diameter. The oversize pins are 17,1 and 17,2 mm, specially designed for swing arms with ''worn out'' holes. Any other ''repair'' is a compromise |
