right i wasnt sure where to post this, but the techy section will do!

does anyone else have really bright hazards... but really dim indicators?

i never really noticed it till the other day, but when my hazards are on, they are really bright, even on a sunny day, but my incators are really dim... i mean the hazards come on bright straight away on/off/on/off... but my indicators just limply blink on then off.... im not sure whether its normal or a problem... i dont have an indicator light on the dash or anything, just the standard hazard one, but i cant understand how all the lights being on makes them brighter and 3 at a time they seem really dim... i mean to the point where people cant see my indicators during the day....

its just getting rather annoying :( next thing ill end up with someone just pull out infront of me, and abit more than just a few "character dents".....

Sounds like the indicator stalk's connectors and contacts are probably a bit corroded and manky, so causing high resistance in the switch. Dismantle and clean.

Could also be that the main indicator lamps have corroded terminals/poor earths. Also check that the bulbs haven't blackened with age and that the lamp reflectors are clean as are the insides of the lenses.

The hazards work fine, Rob... The only bit that's different in the two circuits is the indicator switch. The hazard switch "cuts that bit out" of the equation.

On the other hand,
if it's an electro-mechanical flasher unit, of the type in an aluminium canister, those can go out of adjustment so that the rate of 'blinkgeben' is wrong.
Because the rate is dependent on the number of lamps in circuit, perhaps it's worth substituting a flasher unit that's known to work OK?

thats something i was going to try once shes back together ken, i was going to test the one off the D*lly and see if theres any difference, if not then i'll be taking bits apart and having a look to see whats wrong :)
