VIN number should be on the right front leg of the chassis, under the drive shaft.

On the firewall is a aluminum plate with VIN number, and other information.

Some French 2cv's have the VIN stamped on the floors next to the seat belt roller RHS or in front of the front seats on the chassis. Is it RHD 2cv?

Not sure about SA laws, why not stamp the VIN on the chassis?

is there any soundproofing on your firewall? It's normally on the driver's side, near the top. My D*lly's vin plate was obscured under the felt soundproofing stuff...

I *think* Gerhardj bought a car in Scotland and drove it to SA, although I could be thinking of someone else. It's RHD though.

yes - it is the charleston from scotland to cape town
no soundproofing but firewall repainted - so assume plate removed for that
chassis galv and painted - if vin stamped onto chassis - would this create place for rust to start?
