Hey guys and girls! I dont know if this is a problem with just my 2cv or anyone elses, but my headlight bulbs seem to blow quite frequently! But it's also only ambers that go! I've just had to take two off the car as the plastic section with the terminals broke off on 1 bulb and the dip beam filament blew on the other side! I know naturally there are vibrations and shakes in the bar itself, which do cause the bulbs to shake a little but I seem to go through a bulb or 2 every few months! Sometimes they last longer! It always seems to be the dip filament which blows!

Does anyone else suffer from bulb fatigue or are gsf sending me duds?

Swapped onto some xenon gas blue jobbies for now! Untill I can order more yellows tomorrow!

Have you checked to see whar voltage the alternator is putting out if its to high it will blow headlight bulbs. Are the bulbs 12volt bulbs or have you been sold 6 volt ones passed off as 12 volt?

Joe
definitley check the voltage regulator, then make sure all the teminals are good and clean and the earths all work well

The general condition of the engine , light bar and body work all have impact on the shaking and vibration which doesn't help

and yes cheap bulbs dont last

I used "Ring" halogens and they have been good for a few years

edit- they were "hella" not "ring"

I've had yellow tungsten bulbs in my car for years and they last a long time. In fact, when I bought new Cibie lamps in '08 I bought new bulbs at the same time even though the yellow bulbs in the old lamps were fine and had been in the car since I fitted them in '02, and I still have them available as spares for when I need them. :)

Just me then! We'll I know my regulator is working fine! Always levels off around 14.4-.6 but recently my alternator has started making a nasty squealing but only when the engine is decelerating! :(

ouch... are you sure that wasnt the wire dangling on the exhaust? as the wattage on the bulbs is the same as the usual halogen bulbs!
