Post New 6v voltage regulator mystery...
Hi all, wonder if you can help. After trying 5 old 6v voltage regulators to get my old ripple charging, I've bought a new one from Franzose in Germany. I checked with them and they say it's good for the job.

So it's turned up, as usual with no instructions. The terminals on the existing regulator are DYN (dynamo) BAT (battery) and EXC (dynamo excite cable. BUT the new regulator has three terminals labelled 'D', 'M' and 'B'. SHould be labelled WTF. anyhow, called Rick Pembro who said he'd hesitate to fit it without actually knowing.

So I've emailed Herr Franzose, but they take up to a week to reply to emails, so thought I'd ask here if anyone can shed any light on the labelling.

The regulator is called 'MAGNETON' made in Czech Republic. Here are some photos.

Thanks in advance...

Simon.

D is usually the battery or system voltage.
M could be "Mass" which the continentals call earth

which leaves B for what i dont know

try using a google translate for the common terms such as "earth" "Load" " exciter" etc into Cz and see what comes of it

In Bosch nomenclature B is battery, usually with either a + or a -

D is dynamo again with + or -

If you have a 'catalogue number'/'product number' take a look here and see if the manufacturers 'site helps.
