Post subject:  Electronic ignition wiring
Good morning
Question for all you electronic boffins,I have an electronic ignition which i believe to be a 123 module,having been to the 123 site it looks like the wiring is reversed on the coil i.e the yellow is connected to the negative terminal and the black is on the positive terminal.
Question is does it make any difference to the performance of the ignition system?

Andy,
no, it doesn't.
In fact, I'd recommend reversing the position of the low tension leads on the coil at regular intervals, regardless of the type of ignition system which is fitted.
This has the effect of equalising electrical wear of the spark plugs' electrodes, since the double-ended coil used on A series vehicles always fires one plug with reverse polarity.
The same interval as used for greasing kingpins seems to work OK... ;)

Yup after spending too much time playing with cars im being made to do accounts and tax - so prone to bouts of sneaking off and getting giddy on line

Interesting observation,after reversing the connections (low tension) on the coil the engine runs better especially at low revs (it was a bit 'fluffy' before) but the starting is worse.
The car has had a full service within the last 500 miles.
Your thoughts gentlemen would be appreciated.

Not the best of "services" then was it?

plug gaps? New plugs?

123s dont like it if the battery isnt that good or the connections arent that clean

Don't be disheartened. I took the engine of mine apart and then serviced it and it hasn't worked since. I'm getting quite into cycling, it's not all that bad really.

Service done by a 2cv specialist everything new,the battery angle is interesting because the car tends to start as I release the key as though there's not enough electrickry for the starter motor and the ignition.Will investigate further tomorrow.

Andy, the above describes exactly the starting symptoms I had prior to replacing the 100 year old coil with a nice new one ;) with new 123 and good battery but old coil.
