Post Trafficlutch questions
As posted in the "My A-series" thread, I don't know what the score is when it comes to trafficlutches......

Okay. So, Mrs Spanners and myself are looking at popping over the pond sometime soon and taking the Ami as would seem polite.

In order to make that happen, I'm going to have to get the few mechanical jobs done including sorting the smelly cylinder heads and looking at the clutch.

On cars with a trafficlutch, does the engine unbolt as per the norm and pull straight out? Looks like I'm going to have to convert to "standard" heavy flywheel and spring type clutch for the time being too so what's involved there, will it all go onto the gearbox that's in there? This is all new territory for me so please excuse the questions if they're just plain silly!

Thankyou.

Yep,
if it's the centrifugal part which is worn out, extract engine in normal fashion, leaving the extra drum & some other parts attached to the gearbox input shaft.
Unscrew the left-hand threaded nut on the input shaft, remove mechanism and put to one side whilst you save up for a replacement centrifugal clutch assembly... ;)

The other part of the clutch is exactly the same as a normal coil spring setup, but you will need to swap the flywheel.

If you are heading our way, we can replace the clutch here? I'll swap you if you want, no monies involved :o
