I thought about getting a posh Sonnenland roof... and even went up to ECAS to have a look. When I saw the £150 roof they were selling (better than the original, from what I could see) I came to my senses and went for one of those. Haven't regretted it, and the £200 I saved on the roof I was able to spend on luxury items like a clutch, a coil, tyres and other fripperies.

Here's the roof I bought: http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/hood-inte ... p-561.html.

During our business time in Australia, we sold many Sonnenland roof made by our fellow raider Skinny Alex http://www.entendach.de/Sonnenland/sonnenland.html

The UV down under can cook a vinyl roof in 1 year but Alex's roof are still good after 20 years or so.

Never sold one in France as the french do not understand that quality is cheaper in the long run.

whats a Sonnenland roof is it one of the acrylic canvas ones?

roofs arn't that difficult to make once you find suitable material and your rear window frame is OK or the front bar hasnt rotted.

Sonnenland roof material is made from synthetic cotton (used on German cabriolet cars Porsche etc.) Middle layer is a water membrane and inside a very nice grey linning. All frames + other parts are new or reconditioned to a very high standard. Skinny Alex is only making these roof as a business nothing else. Alex will never make a vinyl roof, he knows that todays vinyl is substandard quality. One winter and the roof turns in to a hard sheet of plastic. Our sedans are fitted with Sonnenlands from Alex , no worries.

aye got 5m of acrylic canvas (synth cotton) to make a couple,

the stainless bits and bobs do make that roof look like a sound investment.
