Any tips on converting to side exit :?:

Go for the French look, where the pipe bends behind the rear wheel and is attached to the body via the bracket fitted on the inner wing. It's a better look imo, and the pipe is better supported.

If don't fancy above remove the last section of pipe from the torpedo silencer to the back of the car, fit a van side exit pipe in its place.
Or if feeling particularly tight saw the old rear pipe at the bend and swivel it round so it exits by the wheel ,can be a bit close doing that though.
Then run a tie-wrap around the rear rubber mount of the torpedo and pull it a little tighter ,to prevent excessive side to side swing which can put stress on the swan neck down the front. Simples..if things aren't too rusty :P

7 pounds from ecas, i got the van one, although having it exit behind the wheel nd supporting it properly doesnt sound like a bad plan, although you could surely make a support up for it? and at any rate there isnt that much stress surely?

No no no. You want to go for the M4 Van look.

Exit the engine at the FRONT LEFT of the manifold, go down behind the cowling, behind the bumper then turn back on itself so you hit the box under the engine.

Then exit the box on the RIGHT and go under the passenger side, up over the chassis, under the van body, THEN drop DOWN under the spare wheel (back on the LEFT now) to the torpedo before wiggling downwards and exiting in front of the rear wheel.

Simples.
