Anyone got a good way to remove them without knackering up the nut or shell? So far I have had to cut the rusty blob of nut off any I have done in the past. Anyone bought any new plastic ones from ecas or other suppliers? Do you get the cup washers and nut and bolt etc with them? Are the plastic ones any good? Attempted to return to the garage after work, after the grinder incident but it didn't go so great, knocked the scar on my finger and OMG it hurt! Back to the PC and TV it is.... ![]() Cheers Tim |

if its a metal shell give the nut some heat and diesel/plusgas/release oil |

I tried that approach but the bolt head inside the shell always seems to turn and knarl things up, more so on the plastic ones. |

Happened 13th February.... grinder with 1mm cutting disc caught and I got in the way as it carried on! ![]() ![]() Must wear gloves when I return to using it although to be honest I don't think it would have made much difference, only more pain when trying to remove the glove to find out if the finger is still attached! |

Tim, the way I've tackled this problem is with the light bar upside down, drill some holes, each 1/8" diameter and situated right on the edge between the bolt and the nut. Try drilling 4 first, fill the holes with penetrating fluid and leave overnight before attempting to undo the nut. Even with part of the thread on the bolt missing, there's still enough grip when new (nyloc) nuts are fitted, with plenty of coppaslip for good measure... ![]() ken. ( Almost forgot, don't cut the wiring loom or destroy the socket, as it's possible to push back the locking tabs and remove the wires complete with their terminals. I hate it when you go to change a headlamp bulb and the terminals are fitted 'bare' or there's a mess of chocolate block connectors inside the shell. ![]() |
