I`m not having much success removing the front brake drums on my `70 2CV4. Anyone have suggestions to get this done? They are "free" with no drag from the shoes---just won`t pull off... Thanks, Paul

I guess you have checked that the adjusters are right off if you say they are "free" - you often need to give them a tap all round to free them up with a rubber mallet....

Being a 4, you haven't got the issue of the drums hitting the engine cowling, they being smaller drums.

If you are sure the adjusters are backed off completely and that you have given the drums a good tap with a copper hammer all the way around then you are just going to have to worry it off with a bit of gentle prising with some appropriate levers.

Anyone ever try a "puller" of some sort? My engine is in the car and its tough to lever/or beat these drums off. Thanks for your replies. I`m sure my problem is 23 years of sitting around---while the drums seem free, moving the adjusters either way (up or down) seems to lock them up. Many thanks for any suggestions----Paul

I've found that the drums can be a fairly tight fit on the gearbox output flange, which is where a block of wood and a lump hammer come into play... ;)
