I bought a fuel filter at Auchan on Saturday and put it on the car yesterday. €2 for one like this  Now, as I've already done it all I want is a little reassurance here, but I've fitted it in place of the 10cm bit of metal piping on the chassis leg next to the front wheel. Is this ok or is that bit of rusty pipe there for some other reason than to join the two bits of fuel pipe together? |

I would say you are fine and dandy as long as it does not rub on the chassis and wear through You have effectively put a filter in before the fuel pump that will protect the little valves in their and the little filter in the top of the carb As long as the joints are leak free and it pulls the petrol from the tank without sucking in air - enjoy the drive Make sure it will not get hit by stones thrown up from the wheels - especially with prices at the pumps now |

As the others have said - it's where I put 'em. Don't forget to change it, either. Once every year or two should be fine. |

Even if it doesn't work as a fuel filter it won't go rusty and fall to bits like the bit of pipe you've replaced, and it's clear so you can tell at a glance if any fuels coming through. |

Bit of a random question, but has anyone ever heard of one of these clogging up enough to cause fuel starvation problems? I think I'm looking at either a clogged filter or a knackered pump on the Dyane, and obviously, I'm hoping it's the 90p filter. The strainer is missing from the tank pickup, so I guess it's possible...

It's only 8 months old! Considering the lack of the strainer in the tank though, I reckon it's a likely culprit. I'll go and swap it over when I've finished the washing up! |

Not quite the same, but the first time I (well my garage) changed the fuel filter on my CX DTR it was like porridge in there. We decided to drop and flush the tank then! |
