what should the gap in the points be im at work without the haynes manual just changed the points and cant remeber the gap i think 0.45mm comes to mind?
help asap please:)

0.4mm / 16 thou is what you should aim for.

Yes!
and you need to remember the 2-4-6-8 rule
0,2mm tappets
0,4mm points
0,6mm plugs
8* static timing

default setting (tho tappets and plugs can do with an extra0,05mm)

If you smoke (and you should) a Marlboro light packet is pretty much bang on.
