Post subject:  Extending the life of a 2CV

Came across Ken's site with the grease nipples on the steering rack, an excellent solution.

Those wishing to extend the life of a 2CV may be interested in..... see pics attached

ARM

The arms have two grease points, the nipple is just between the seal and the bearing.

Front Hub

The hub also has two grease points, one in front/one behind the bearing, when applying the grease gun, you remove the opposite nipple, this ensures the grease passes through the bearing.

The hub is used with the "Gardner arms" set up but the principle is the same for standard 2CV hubs

All good ideas - I've done some of these myself but some of them can really only be done as part of a major body of restoration.

I could have done with the facility to grease wheel bearing when I went to the Circuit des Ramparts in Angouleme a few years ago. It rained constantly all the way there and washed the grease out of the drivers side bearing - 50 miles into the drive home it failed.....
