Post Argos air tool set - what fitting?!
Bought a compressor recently which just comes with a threaded output nozzle. Also picked up a 5-piece air tool set at half price from Argos - quality. Finally got myself a SIP Sapphire spray gun on Fleabay.

All I need to do now is join them up together :?

The 'Challenge Extreme' (it ain't seen nothing yet...) CX5 PROFI tool set has quick-release fittings. Here's the bludy annoying thing - it looks the same shape as 'PCL' fittings, but something tells me it's different. (Ok, that's the annoying thing - I can't remember why I think it's different to PCL but I have a feeling I got as far as trying it and it didn't  ). Having said that, it could well be PCL since I have no concrete reason for saying it ain't - oh lawd...

I bought the Argos kit a few months back 'cos it was in a sale. I'm pretty sure I mentioned it on a thread on here somewhere - can't find it now - and someone else said they were going to pick up a set too as it was around a tenner. Did anyone on here buy a set? Any idea what fitting it is?!!

Of course the helpline number that came with it is 'unrecognised', and Argos themselves have no contact facility for stuff like this.

Any ideas? Ta very much.

I may have tracked down the parent company - Einhell - who have an office in t'Wirral. I've emailed them for help.

Still, if anyone else knows... :D

usually 1/4" bsp(bsp is dictated by the size of the hole through the middle rather then the outside diameter of the thread as in Metric) input you may have to just bite the bullet and get some tales to suit the QD you have on the air line and the rest of the tools.

Machine Mart are usually pretty good at matching, sorting out reducers and that ...well they have to be good at bodging together cheap Chinese tools

Cheers, Sean.

The 1/4" thing explains why the actual threaded fitting looks a lot larger than that - thanks.

The bit that I'm mainly trying to match up is the actual QD part. Since the 5-piece kit has them fitted, I want to add the same endings to the compressor and spray gun so's it's all Q-D. I ordered similar-looking Q-D fittings on eBay, but they don't quite fit. That's the really annoying bit - if they were completely different, I could cope. But they are almost the same; one part - either the male or female, I can't remember - does fit into the Argos fitting and seems to work, but they don't at all the other way around.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr :x

Go the other way round - take a standard connector (PCL) and make everything match that. S'wot I did with the (Lidl/Aldi/whichever pikeymarket) compressor I got.

MachineMart do PCL connectors (male/female) for cheapness.

Thanks, toomany, that's certainly a way to go, and might even have to be :(

I'm trying to avoid that, tho' as it would mean having to replace all the existing ends on the Argos set - that's at least 7 - and also having to make good new joins on the hose, something I'd rather not touch. If I could get matching fittings to the Argos set, I'd only have to screw in 2 new bits - one for t'compressor, and one for t'SIP sprayer.

It's the old Betamax/VHS, Windows/Apple, Blueray/bollocks all over again. Oh for the day manufacturers can get together and agree on something first - the petulant twits...

(Sorry, really lost my temper there...)

Certainly is - however you're looking to back the non-standard horse, because it's a bit easier...
