How much petrol Is roughly in a tank when the needle hits 0? Providing the sender is correct of course and how many miles roughly? I'm currently in the middle of nowhere and I don't know how far I dare go!! |

Not that I have ever measured when hitting 0 but when raiding, we get around max 320 kilometer per 25 liter tank. When filling up max 22-23 liters goes in, so I say roughly 2-3 liters before running dry. |

A standard 2CV tank holds 25 litres or 5.5 gallons. How much is in your tank when it reads empty is anyones guess ....mine has about 1 gallon left when it reads empty, but,in my experience gauges vary from car to car. Bear in mind too that the last quarter indicated of a tankfull of fuel will go down quicker than the first three quarters ,due to the shape of the tank. T. |

We put in 23.5 litres a few days ago while "enjoying" a weekend driving in 34 Centigrade and lots of humidity. The fuel had been showing zero for quite a while, maybe 40 kms. I have always carried, and will continue so to do, a 5 litre backup container. Australia's a big country with lots of space between servos out there beyond the cities. I recall what VW had on their early Beetles - a reserve which was brought on line by turning the intake inside the tank down so that it accessed the last 5(?) or so litres. I don't think those so-equipped had a fuel gauge at all, which is very basic, but then it was a Wagen for der Volk! |
