Hello
My engine is idleing like a sack if poo. When you idle, and Rev using gas pedal, there's a pause then take it off gas pedal and then it revs on it's own. I thought return spring but thats fine and dandy.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Its the batter.... no no

Maybe air? You were doing things with the fuel pipes? I have no idea though... just a thought.

Basics first. Have you checked the throttle cable is nice and free, nothing in the way of the lever on the carb, like the wiring loom.

It may be the mechanism on the carb that is a bit worn, so causing it to jam slightly.

after f**king about in the snow did you check there is no moisture in the points box* or the lt lead to the points( from the coil)

then check that the springs and returns and cable are ok on the throttle side of things the linkages and extrematies of the engine will get a lot of condensation on them and it may be enough to cause it to stick, also if you like to spray everything with wd40 or the like it will have gone thick and sticky in the cold

moisture in the trottle cable and the cold will make it stick and be slow to respond

muff on and its all toasty and warm?

also you had the pump off any chance that water /snow could have got in while you were working?-hand over the carb trick

a clean engine never suffers in the cold, dirty ones hold the moisture which makes stuff stick and electricity leak- despite people thinking the waterproofing properties of oil are a good thing!

* remember Eurostar last year the snow blew about and got to places the larger water droplets didnt get, then when got into the warm tunnel it melted and played havoc with the 'lectrics

There was a lag in revving. Revved straight from carb still the same. After a good rev it seemsto be fine now. When I was driving I felt a bit of friction in the cable just now, then the pedal is as it should be. Think cable is catching or was. After a rev (wiggling the pedal, it was fine.) it was fine an hour go when I drove so I'll keep an eye out on it. It isn't seem eletricsl as it was firing on all cylinders so I will report back soon! It's done 50 miles since replacing pipe if not more a it's Ben faultless.
