open pipes open filter standard jetting= ?

get it hot
change the oil
check the timing (see blue smoke jameswallace thread)
put the muff on
see how it is after a few days

or do a compression test now ( hot engine)and let us see whats going on

Oil is new, I've had trouble with timing, it's as close as poss, I'm fitting original air filter as soon as I can but yes it's currently open, and the muff is on. Mind you, it's not getting used much, I've just pulled the brushes from the alternator, do you reckon they're too worn?

chris, in the bluesmoke thread, i think sean (correct me if im wrong sean) told me that you want about 1 tooth after firing?? maybe if youve got it dead on then that could be why??
incidently i had the maynoise build up (i personally xalled it something else :roll: !!) and since fitting a new oil breather, no maynoise!!

Ditto - fitted one of the bypassing reed-valves from ECAS and there's no more mayo.....yippee

(I too do some short trips)

What's a reed valve? It is a new breather, found it worked better than the one I had on before, though there is oily residue where the pipe bit fits to the block
