Post subject:  Loss of lhm
Got a lil bit of a problem I really need to sort out sharp. Break warning light came on yesterday, checked it this morning and lhm level is very low, I know it needs discs and pads soon but could the wear in that cause loss on fluid, or have I simply got a leak? The master cylinder is brand new as i went through all the breaks this time last year.

if theres none pissing out anywhere then simply never having topped up for ages means that the pistons out at full have used up the reserves top it up and see how it goes

pads are cheap as chips and its a 10 min job

leaks most often at res to master seals and rear cylinders a failure of one of the pipes and youd know about it .

If I'm doin pads I might as well do discs unless they are gonna last another year, I'll top it up in the morning and keep posting.

slightly off topic in a sense, but where could i get some LHM break fluid from? i dont have any, and i feel i should have some just incase!!! ive never bothered checking the level since may woops!!

Look at the pedal side of the MC, when leaking the LHM are not seen, it just runs down the firewall and hides

good motor factor should have it

agricultural places have it too as manitou and the likes use it but youll have to sell out for a 50l drum :lol:

any particular type no different specs?? brake lhm fluid?? will get some tomorow!

rebel2CV,
for the brake warning light to come on, the fluid level has to be quite far down, so it might be worth having a peep at all of the connections in the brake lines, as well as around the rear brake drums .

The car I was sorting for MOT today had done over 15,000 miles in the last year and hadn't been brought back for servicing once during that time.
She was very lucky as regards her brakes , as a leak had developed in one of the rear cylinders.
'Somebody' had removed both of the the wires connected to the float in the reservoir, so no warning light activation was possible... :(

It is very low, ah well it's showing it's age now things wearing out haha
