I've got the drums all set up on the Ami now. However, (just as I thought I was making progress) when I came to put the pipes on, I found that the (original) pipe from the master cylinder to the (new) T piece on top of the gearbox has a larger thread than the T piece female thread. In fact, all the brake pipes from the master cylinder are of a slightly larger diameter than the later brake pipes, which means that unless I fit the old slave cylinders onto the later gearbox, I'm going to have to get a pipe specially made. Anyone know who might do this for me? Bonapart used to do 2CV brake pipes, but they appear to have gone off to France and my French really isn't good enough to do anything but tell them that the pen of my aunt is in the garden. Can anyone help?

Ami 6 use 4.5 mm pipes and 2cv use 3.5 mm. When you swap gear box, the pipes are for 2cv (3.5 mm). You need to replace the wheel cylinders + the 2 pipes from the wheel cylinders to the T bracket. I can help you with used pipes and brackets but you need new wheel cylinders.
Forgot to ask, what was on the gear box you removed?

The old gearbox was the original, so has the 4.5mm wheel cylinders. With any luck, I should be able to find a pair of new wheel cylinders. It's just a shame to have spent the time setting it up with new 3.5mm wheel cylinders ... but never mind!

Just move over the old wheel cylinders and pipes too

RT,
if you move the shoes as far out as possible on the adjustment cams, it's possible to change the cylinders without disturbing the centralising adjustment, isn't it? ;)

I feel a bit guilty for supplying bits that are clearly wrong, but I honestly didn't know it was going to be problematic. I assumed the master cyl-three way pipe would fit into the three way on the new box, and that the new sheos would be fine.

Me too. In fact, I'd have made exactly the same assumption in your position. Don't worry about it, I can soon get the old cylinders out of the old gearbox and have it all built up. Why they felt the need to change the size of the brake pipes I have no idea ...

I feel bad because I told you I'd bought everything with the exception of a clutch, sorry about that, if I had any idea I'd have told you or more likely bought the right bits. Really hope you get it sorted asap.
