Post subject:  2nd/3rd gear sliding pinion recondition

Finally after years of searching I found a Dutch company willing to help with reconditioning of 2nd/3rd gear sliding pinions. New synchromesh rings fitted with new solid rivets. Stripping it is easy but getting the holding clip back on is keyhole surgery literally. Also a good photo of how to peen the selector ring to prevent unwounding. I prefer using an screwdriver for better locking rather than using a counterpunch. Next is sticking the pinion in to a gear box and test drive the part. It will be in 6 weeks on a 3600 km return trip to Denmark
No more stripping gear boxes lef right center to get good used pinions. We'll run out of parts one day if we don't stop now.

Normally, people don't care about it before it happens;)
It's good to think like this in every aspect of life. We'll run out of everything, if we don't care.

Are these the same circlips that 2cvgb's SPOG had remanufactured a year or so ago?

The braking clips from Ecas are top quality organized by David Eden and thanks for that I must say. The reproduction rings are real shit. I managed to rebuilt 6 gear boxes with those rings only to re do all boxes within 12 months.

Here is one problem, jamming the 2nd/3rd sliding pinion.

Been thinking of doing the same one day, used 2-3 synchro's are 9 out of 10 times shit as well, new ones only original ones do the job, immitation stuff... save yourself the work of putting one in, you'll be doing the same operation in a couple of thou km's again!

So Viking, you were able to get hold of good (original??) synchrorings!?

I'll keep watching this thread!

greetzzzzzzzzzzz

Synchromesh braking rings. Yes but mighty expensive.
These are half price and made in the UK, been tested in several gear boxes, no worries.
